A strong brand: The Name

There is no second chance for a first impression.
Choosing the right name for your brand name should reflect and create a desire for the products you offer.
This is achieved through the generation of emotions, ie, weaving stories about the product. But never forget that what you promise, provided, or even the best name will save you from failure.
Imagine Mc Donald's ® had been called "Burgers Ray" or that instead of Pizza Hut ® had been "Pizza John." Do you think you would have the same success? Just as an accountant is perhaps the most appropriate professional to calculate their taxes, a professional in marketing is probably the best option to create a name for your new product or company.

It is possible that you are beginning as a small entrepreneur with a limited budget. However, the business name is one of the most important aspects of it as it will be the first thing most of your customers receive, and will greatly influence the first impression any potential customer.

Finding the best name is not an easy task, but finding the right name for your business you can generate many benefits.
The name combined with your logo and slogan will be your cover letter and together they will be a key element in your company to communicate an implicit message: what to do, who you are, you offer, etc..

Here are some methods commonly used by marketers to successfully appoint any new business or product.

1. It is essential that you define what you want to communicate.
First you need to know "what" and then comes the "how." What do you say to your customers with the name? An appropriate name always communicate who you are and what makes your business with less effort.

Here are some benchmarks you can use to decide what elements you want to stand with the name. Describe your business type.
  • Difference to your competitor.
  • What do you do better?
  • What do you remember your customers?
  • What part of the business you want to emphasize?
2. The right words.

Something useful might be stopping for a minute to look at the names and brands of vehicles, soft drinks, banks, computers, restaurants, clothing and other items you consume and use every day.
You'll see that most of them no more than seven letters. Just to remember names of common computers: Dell, Sony, HP, Mac They have much in common, besides engaging in the same line of business.

Here are some of the features that should contain your name if you do like the pros:
  • No more than 7 letters: the shorter will be easier for customers to remember your name.
  • Few words and easy to pronounce and remember: use words that can be easily repeated by other people, forget about long names and terms that only you understand.
  • Description of the benefits implicit: it is important to try to include what you are best, an example is "Fast Clean" the name itself suggests that their clothes are clean and delivered quickly.
  • Consistency with the line of business: The name must be related to the core business of your company.
  •  Positive connotation: do not use words that can mean that your brand is bad, slow, inefficient, etc...
  • Do not forget your slogan, a slogan can greatly strengthen the message you want to communicate to attract consumer attention.
Once you've identified what you want to highlight, there are several ways to create names, The most useful and functional way is called brainstorming, we professionals use this tool for everything!.

3. Generate a "brainstorming."

Brainstorming is a group technique that aims to generate a list of possible names. Here are some factors to consider:
  • Gather all participants in the project and anyone offering to help: partners, partner, family, etc.. Remember that two heads are better than one and three heads are better than two.
  • Create a comfortable atmosphere where people feel relaxed.
  • Ten pieces of paper and pencil or a chalkboard to write, and that words are not binding.
  • When you think that the imagination ran out, open a dictionary at a random page and select a word. Try to incorporate the names they have generated. You'll be amazed as new ideas begin to flow.
  • Have on hand a dictionary of synonyms or use the one included in the word processor on your computer.
4. discard and find the appropriate.
Once you have a list of potential names, it's time to choose the most suitable for the type of business you want to build. To achieve this, this list of questions will be of much help: -
  • What is the easiest to pronounce?
  • What is the shortest?
  • What needs no further explanation to understand what gives?
  • What do you prefer?
  • What is easier to remember?
  • What is different from the competition?
  • What projects succeed?
  • What makes known my competitive advantage?
